Hope Hack
On Friday 3rd 'May Girls Where You At' alongside Volunteering Matters, The Damilola Taylor Foundation and The Rio Ferdinand Foundation took part in a Hope Hack @ Ipswich Town Footballl Club.
We were so privileged to be a major part of the Ipswich Hope Hack it was phenomenal!
100 young people full of energy, ideas, and smarts, creating a space of hope now and for the future.
Our GWYA crew stepped into being the leaders that we know they are, choosing the categories, leading the workshops and feedback and just smashing it.
The Hope Hacks have been taking place all over the country, with the results being tabled into a youth manifesto for change. This manifesto will be delivered to the government to inform them what and how young people see and can contribute to changes in society.
We can't wait for the response.

White Ribbon 16 Days of Action Event
What an extraordinary day Monday, December 4th was for our community in Ipswich! In a remarkable collaboration with various organisations, we came together at The Hold to host an event in alignment with the 16 Days of Action against domestic abuse.
The primary aim of the event was to showcase the diverse range of support and services available for victims and survivors of domestic abuse. It was an opportunity for different organisations to stand united, highlighting the collective strength in our efforts to address and combat domestic abuse.
One of the highlights of the day was our very own project officer, Stacey, sharing her powerful #changethestory talk. Stacey's personal journey over the last seven years served as a testament to resilience, empowerment, and the possibility of positive transformation.
The event featured a variety of insightful workshops and talks, each contributing to a comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse and ways to address it.
Dionne from Suffolk Rape Crisis, Kelly from Lighthouse, and Julie from Suffolk Police led a VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) workshop, shedding light on critical issues and potential solutions.
David Wattley's talk on Domestic Abuse Behavioral Change provided valuable insights into addressing the root causes of abuse, while Mel and Kelly conducted a Healthy Relationship Workshop, fostering awareness about building positive connections.
Bal Howard's discussion on Forced Marriage and honor-based abuse brought attention to sensitive yet crucial topics. The day concluded on a serene note with Louise from SARC guiding participants through breathing techniques and mindfulness, emphasizing the importance of self-care and mental well-being.
The success of this event underscores the significance of collaboration and mutual support among organizations. By working together, we can provide the best possible support to those affected by domestic abuse.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Mandy Rawlins at Suffolk Archives for her invaluable support and assistance during the event.
Girls Where You At? Shine at important Hackathon
GWYA did us proud on Friday when they took part in @volunteering_uk #ysa Hackathon at Dance East . The event was an exploration of what young people ACTUALLY need when it comes to support through transitions and moments in their lives and GWYA contributed ably to the challenges and discussions that followed. In short, they smashed it.

W2W Radio Smashing Spill Fest!
We were so thrilled to be asked to be part of Spill Festival with a 'LIVE" Woman 2 Woman Radio show and community takeover- and it bacame so much more. The women designed a piece of performance art that took the audience through a journey of what it is like to be an asylum seeker /migrant/refugee in a country that is sometimes hostile, where you don't speak the language and where you are scared and confused. It was a challenge some members of the public couln't take - but the rest were rewarded with lively and insightful discussion and conversation from our fabulous group as they took to to the airwaves.
